3AM 03:27
Fought with fireworks in the night Just doing what was feeling right We stayed up till 3am overlooking the world from our thrones of sin We got blackout drunk and gave each other tattoos But I never thought I would lose you We were holding on to something that passed In a hopeless effort to make it last But it's gone, why can't you see It's been too long, I'm not the old me Like a distant memory These same old songs, they still remind me Finally a sense of feeling free I'm moving on, fuck it let it be We got blackout drunk and gave each other tattoos But I never thought I would lose you We were holding on to something that passed In a hopeless effort to make it last Na, Na, Na Na Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na Na Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na Na Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na Na Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, We got blackout drunk and gave each other tattoos But I never thought I would lose you We were holding on to something that passed In a hopeless effort to make it last

Bad Habits 03:46
I sometimes catch myself I'm lost in thought, I’m onto you But I know better than to think You’d share, our perspective Spend time with people that you Never even wanted to But that’s what happens when your bond is only chemical I know you said you were only passing through But I still see you in the corners of my room I hear your voice even when I’m not awake You’ve become my hardest habit to break When I can’t sleep at night I wish that I could talk to you I listen to the songs we Used to sing but they remind me That I can’t stand it here I’m sick, and tired of the view From my old bedroom Where I saw you for the last time I know you said you were only passing through But I still see you in the corners of my room I hear your voice even when I’m not awake You’ve become my hardest habit to break I don’t need you To shut me out I need to breathe again I know you said you were only passing through But I still see you in the corners of my room I hear your voice even when I’m not awake You’ve become my hardest habit to break

Red Warning 03:34
Crack open the door and the floor starts creaking While I'm sneaking to the back of the house My feet are getting sore and my mind starts tweaking The thrill comes by the ounce Wait and have a smoke in the snow On our way to get high Wait and have a smoke in the snow Hope the bus doesn't pass you by Drunk on indiscretion, my obsessions pass the time The words I often question take possession of the mind Dirty wheels are rolling down the pavement Leaving trails of youth behind Working hard to make it out the basement I'm glad old friends resigned Wait and have a smoke in the snow On our way to get high Wait and have a smoke in the snow Hope the bus doesn't pass you by Drunk on indiscretion, my obsessions pass the time The words I often question take possession of the mind The calming sense of revenge can erupt into bloodshed down the line A pleasant thought but I'm wiser I know it'll waste my time Wait and have a smoke in the snow On our way to get high Wait and have a smoke in the snow Hope your life doesn't pass you by Drunk on indiscretion, my obsessions pass the time The words I often question take possession of the mind The calming sense of revenge can erupt into bloodshed down the line A pleasant thought but I'm wiser I know it'll waste my time

Mercy Rule 03:33
I retraced my steps And I’d throw it all away all away, I won’t hold my breath It’s getting worse again And if it’s all the same What remains is unforgettable I never meant to Watch you slip away You say I’m heartless I don’t feel the same Feels like it never ends Just call the Mercy Rule again Sitting still was never enough Claustrophobic in your bedroom I know how this ends And if it’s all the same Everyday is just forgettable I never meant to Watch you slip away You say I’m heartless I don’t feel the same Feels like it never ends Just call the Mercy Rule again

about

Your mom’s favourite boyband, Neon Ghosthouse, is smashing their way onto Canada’s music scene with their debut EP, Mercy Rule. Neon Ghosthouse packs a big sound into every song, making them great for fans of Jimmy Eat World, Smashing Pumpkins, and Billy Talent.

The Ottawa-based emo alt-rockers have been playing together since 2021, but recording their EP has the band re-energized and tighter than ever. Neon Ghosthouse consists of Scott Martin on lead vocals, Zac MacDonald on lead guitar and backing vocals, Jack O’Sullivan on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Jared Lance on bass and backing vocals, and Stuart “Stu” MacFarlane on drums.

Neon Ghosthouse makes music that is equally suited for mosh pits as it is for sitting alone on your roof and staring into the night sky. Locally, the band is known for their catchy riffs and masterful ability to energize their audience.

Mercy Rule, the four-song EP, is as moody as their previous work, with their heavy sound continuing to develop through the band’s maturation. Recorded and produced by Cam Dunn of Hillside Audio, Mercy Rule is a killer debut for Neon Ghosthouse. The release’s namesake, Mercy Rule kicks off full-bodied and ready right from the start. Mixing yelled vocals with the band’s characteristic blend of guitar, the song feels like a continuation of Expectations in the best way possible. Both songs bring forward a sense of pining and defeat through the lyrics, while the drums and bass urge the song into its breakdown.

Neon Ghosthouse has performed with a variety of musicians local to the Ottawa area, such as F!TH, Teenage Fiction, and The New Hires, as well as touring bands like Hotel Mira, Ivytide, and Juno-nominated band Harm & Ease.
